Plano,
TX - Four community leaders, renown for their civic involvement
and commitment to quality higher education, have been appointed
to the CCCCD Foundation Board of Directors. Milton Buschbom, Dr.
David Hammel, Ron Johnson, and Sharon Weinburg will lend their expertise
to the 20-member strong community based board, which is affiliated

"I
look forward to working with these respected community leaders,"
said CCCCD President and Foundation Board Member, Dr. Cary A. Israel.
"CCCCD will benefit tremendously from their vision and leadership."
Milton
Buschbom, a resident of Plano, recently retired from Texas Instruments
after a 31-year career as a distinguished member of its technical
staff. His primary responsibilities included the development of
an advanced semiconductor packaging process. He has provided leadership
to many professional organizations including the American Chemical
Society. Mr. Buschbom has watched the college district grow and
has been impressed with how it has provided excellent educational
opportunities to the community. "Higher education should provide
the opportunity for students of all ages and abilities to improve
themselves. I welcome an opportunity to be part of the college district
and the CCCCD Foundation," said Mr. Buschbom.
Dr.
David Hammel currently holds office as the mayor of the city of
Parker. A longtime supporter of the college, he is pleased to join
the CCCCD Foundation Board. As Dr. Hammel states, "It is imperative
that we provide the opportunity, framework and support to make quality
higher educational experiences available to all who seek it." Dr.
Hammel has spent more than 32 years in management for three Fortune
500 companies in a variety of positions including marketing, engineering,
business development, corporate affairs, and government relations.
He has lived in the Plano and Parker areas for more than 12 years
and is active in a number of civic organizations including Rotary
and CITY House. He has been active on the Collin County Planning
Board for six years and a member of the Parker City Council for
more than 16 years.
Ron
Johnson is a familiar face in and around McKinney. Mr.
Johnson is a senior vice president of investments at Salomon Smith
Barney in McKinney. As past president of the McKinney Education
Foundation and a member of the CCCCD Committee of 100, he is familiar
with the issues facing education today. A committed volunteer, Mr.
Johnson has served terms as the president of the McKinney Rotary
Club and has served on the McKinney Alliance Board and with the
McKinney Chamber of Commerce.
Sharon
Weinberg has long been a supporter and community volunteer for Frisco.
As a former Frisco Citizen of the Year, she has been a cornerstone
of the Frisco community for many years. She is a former feature
writer, reporter and photographer for The Frisco Enterprise and
is a founding board member of Frisco Style Magazine. She is a constant
volunteer and contributor to the Frisco Chamber of Commerce and
is a member of the Collin County Bond Committee. She is currently
working with the Heritage Association of Frisco to obtain and preserve
photographs of Frisco's past, and is photography advisor for Frisco's

education can make to the individual. "Higher education helps people
see and achieve the broad range of possibilities that are available
to them and helps fuel a lifelong love of learning. I would like
to commend CCCCD and the CCCCD Foundation for making the college
so successful and thereby making Collin County a better place to
live."
