COMMUNITY SUPPORTS AN EVENING OF MONOPOLY ON ICE
Collin County Community College District fund raiser gains record
support for student scholarships
March 5, 2004 - The business community is ready to "face off"
and perform a few "power plays" on Friday, Mar. 19, when An Evening
of MONOPOLY returns to North Texas for the fourth and final
year--this time on Ice.
The puck will drop at
7:11 p.m. at the Dr Pepper StarCenter in Frisco as players take on
the NHL collector's version of this property trading game. This
unique fund raiser, hosted by Collin County Community College
District (CCCCD) and the CCCCD Foundation Inc., benefits student
scholarships and academic excellence. The 2004 event has already
surpassed last year's final amount by raising more than $180,000 in
sponsorships. In its four-year history, the event has raised more
than half a million dollars.
"Many more students
are applying for scholarships and financial aid now. Our students
are very grateful for the tremendous contributions made by
businesses and community leaders for the past four years through
MONOPOLY," said Cary A. Israel, CCCCD president. "These gifts have
changed nearly 1,000 lives by making a college education possible.
Giving is an investment in our own future because each scholarship
dollar ultimately raises the educational level of our future
workforce."
The 2004 lead
sponsors, Mac and Sherry Hendricks and Telecom Electric Supply
Company are in the Stanley Cup category ($20,000+); Fisher Regulator
and Medical Center of Plano are in the Luxury Box category
($10,000); Center Ice sponsors ($5,000) include Chartwells, Comcast
Corp., Pat and Rebecca DePole, Exide Technologies, Hall Financial
Group, North Central Medical Center and ONCOR; Hat Trick sponsors
($3,000) include Dill Investments - Richard and Diane Dill,
Harley-Davidson Financial Services, Hunt Construction Company, Inc.
and Manufacturer's EXPO, Inc.; Avenue of the Stars sponsors ($2,000)
include AEGON Direct Marketing Services, Inc., City of Frisco,
Dental Careers Foundation/Dr. Wayne Goodowitz, Medical City Dallas
Hospital and Multiview, Inc.
"An Evening of
MONOPOLY is the most important fundraiser for the foundation and the
college. Our donors recognize the value of higher education and are
aware of the ever widening gap between financial needs and
resources," said Robert Keahey, chairman of the CCCCD Foundation,
Inc. "Without their kind generosity, we could not close this gap."
