COLLIN ANNOUNCES
2005 'LIVING LEGENDS'
Sept. 16, 2005 -
Collin County Community College District (Collin) announces its
choice for Living Legends 2005: Richard and Diane Dill of McKinney,
Jan Miller of the Anna and Celina communities, Rita G. Smith of
Wylie, and Bob Warren of Frisco. Baylor Regional Medical Center at
Plano will underwrite this year’s tribute.
The college will
formally recognize these individuals at the 2005 Living Legends
ceremony and dinner to be held Nov. 12 in the conference center at
the college’s Spring Creek Campus in Plano. Proceeds from the event
will go toward the Living Legends Endowment Fund, which supports
student scholarships and academic success.
According to Cindy Bauge, with the
college's Board of Trustees and Foundation, the selection committee
chose individuals who best exemplified the college's core values of
Learning, Service and Involvement, Creativity and Innovation,
Academic Excellence, Dignity and Respect, and Integrity. “These
honorees not only reflect the college’s core values, but they have
profoundly shaped the progress of their respective communities. They
have a record of service and philanthropy which reaches throughout
Collin County. They are exceptional people and great examples for
our student scholars.”
Cary Israel, college president,
encouraged friends, family and colleagues of the honorees to join in
the celebration of these Living Legends. “Recognition is not what
motivates these individuals to give so much service and leadership,
but they certainly deserve to be acknowledged for it. Our students
and citizens have greatly benefited from their generosity. They are
truly legends in our community.”
The community is invited to
participate in the 2005 Living Legends Tribute ceremony and dinner
and may purchase tables of 8 for $400 or individual tickets for $60.
In addition, corporations and/or families can choose to support the
college through a special contribution as Humanitarian Sponsors at
the $5,000 level.
