Seeks Living Legends Nominations
August 5, 2004 -- Collin County Community College
District is requesting nominations for the second annual Living
Legends tribute. Nomination forms for this special distinction
honoring pillars of the community are due by Aug. 27 and are
available at via the CCCCD Foundation’s website at
http://foundation.ccccd.org.
Baylor
Regional
Medical Center at Plano has signed on as the underwriter of the 2004
Living Legends Tribute.
This year, the tribute will honor four individuals
from throughout Collin County. The Living Legends ceremony and
dinner will be held Nov. 13 in the new training and conference
center at the college’s Spring Creek Campus in Plano. Proceeds from
the event will go toward the Living Legends Endowment Fund, which
supports education for the leaders of tomorrow within the community
and district.
“We would like to
honor individuals who have given their time and talent to our
community. Living Legends was created to both educate and inspire,
so that more individuals will follow in the footsteps of these
exceptional people,” said Cindy Bauge, with college’s Board of
Trustees and Foundation.
The late Gladys
Harrington, credited for starting Plano’s first library, was the
college’s inaugural Living Legend recipient.
“Collin County is full of people whose
legendary leadership will impact the lives of generations to come.
Unfortunately, many of these humble heroes go unsung,” said college
president Cary Israel. “This program is intended to be a point of
unity for the entire county, so we strongly encourage people from
cities throughout Collin County to make nominations.”
Living Legends selection will be based on the
following criteria:
·
Nominees must reflect the college’s core values:
learning, service and involvement, creativity and innovation,
academic excellence, dignity and respect and integrity.
·
Nominees must have profoundly shaped the progress of
their communities and have a record of service and philanthropy in
Collin County.
·
While families, groups or organizations cannot be
selected for this event, individuals associated with a group are
eligible.
The community is invited to participate and may
purchase tables of 10 for $500 or individual tickets at $60. In
addition, corporations and/or families can choose to support the
college through a special contribution as Humanitarian Sponsors at
the $5000 level.
