In 1985, community voters chose to establish Collin County Community College District as the higher education institution in the county. They envisioned an institution that would strengthen the educational and economic environment for all residents.  

The Collin College Foundation, Inc. was established in 1987. Since its formation, literally thousands of students have received Foundation scholarships. In 2008-2009 the Foundation awarded over $375,000 in scholarships to students and the college. But the need continues to grow every year.  The number of students applying for scholarships increased from 2007-2008. Over 700 applications have been received for 2009-2010, which is an increase of 24% from 2008-2009.
